Agriculture and Water Outreach Corpsmember

The AmeriCorps Agriculture and Water Outreach Corpsmember (ages 18-25) serves with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, learning hands-on skills in assessing and managing soil and water resources. Member assists the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP) certification process which may include farm water quality assessments, field visits and data collection, producer and/or landowner interviews, surface and groundwater monitoring programs, wetland and watercourse inventories and assessments. Corpsmember will communicate with local landowners to develop management plans, gather input on best practices and provide education materials on soil and water resources.

JOB DETAILS:
• AmeriCorps service position (ages 18-25)
• Term dates: January 15 – December 13, 2018
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. typical. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
• Stipend: $1690/mo
• Education award: $5815 upon successful completion of term
• Location: Windom, MN

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR a combination of college level coursework and equivalent professional experience in related fields.
• Strong planning, organization, communication and creative thinking skills.
• Desire to serve with a dedicated team of conservation education professionals to sustain a well-recognized certification program.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse adults and other volunteers in conservation, education and outdoor settings.
• Knowledge of GIS software and GPS use preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 18-25 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Full term of service must be completed to receive the education award.
