Summer 2018 Internship at U.S. EPA’s Office of Policy

Eligibility

You must be a U.S. citizen and a full-time undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. candidate student.

Description

  • Perform research and analysis on environmental regulatory policy to assist the Associate Administrator and Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Policy in the Office of the Administrator at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) headquarters in Washington, DC.
  • Write memorandums and correspondence on topics pertaining to the work of the EPA.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders and the EPA for the purposes of research and meeting preparation.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the Office of Policy, including organizational tasks and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • an interest in government, environment, and/or energy;
  • excellent research and writing skills;
  • attention to detail; and
  • the ability to work independently.

Benefits

While the internship is unpaid, EPA can provide a transit subsidy for the cost of local public transportation.

Application Process

The deadline for applying is March 4. Applications should include the applicant’s start and end dates, resume, and writing sample. Interviews of selected candidates will take place over the phone.

Upon acceptance of an internship offer, volunteers will need to sign a volunteer agreement that includes proof of enrollment or admittance to a qualifying educational institution.
