Database Management Intern (Workforce Development)

The mission of the Energy Department is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions.

This position is located in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, Workforce Planning, and Analysis Division. This office analyzes and evaluates workforce plans, employment trends, demographics, Departmental studies, and HC assessment systems to identify the key requirements, challenges, and solutions relating to the DOE federal workforce; providing the top decision-makers with accurate, timely, and extensive information from which to base critical human capital decisions. This position offers opportunities to work with experts in multiple fields, such as energy, science, technology, budget and contracting. 

Office of Workforce and Organization Development major duties for an intern include:

  • Perform IT and database development duties to the DOE  Mentoring Program Manager for tracking and final disposition of mentoring applications.
  • Assist with development of an interactive database for the DOE Mentoring Program’s participant matching process, which will be available through our Human Resources intranet site (HC Net)
  • Support the development of processes and templates for participants to allow for self-matching of mentoring assignments.

Required skills:

  • Proficient in computer science and IT, database development and  software applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
