II. Description

Foodlink is Rochester’s regional food bank and food hub, distributing food and administering programs
to a large network of human service providers. Foodlink’s mission is to end hunger and leverage the power of food to build a healthier community. To achieve that goal, Foodlink has developed a robust Nutrition Education department that brings the entire organization beyond emergency food distribution and into the realm of public health. Foodlink’s Nutrition Education Manager oversees three distinct Nutrition Education programs and a total of 8 staff members that work in different ways to achieve the goal of empowering low-income individuals of all ages to improve their health through nutrition knowledge, basic cooking skills, and food resource management. The three Nutrition Education programs are Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables, Cooking Matters, and Eat Smart NY.

The Nutrition Education Intern will be primarily tasked with assisting the Just Say Yes to Fruits and
Vegetables educators during their weekly cooking demos at the Rochester Public Market that take place from 9-12 pm on Thursdays and some Saturdays. The intern will assist the educator in preparing the recipe and delivering the nutrition workshop. In addition, the Nutrition Education Intern will lend meaningful capacity to the department at large by engaging with all three programs in the role of assistant. The intern will have the opportunity to facilitate group learning, develop nutrition education resources, and take part in program evaluation activates.
