Development Intern (NY)

DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP (NEW YORK CITY, NY)
 
The Administration Development Internshares responsibility to oversee the Development Intern Team (comprised of about 2 interns) and reports to the Internship Supervisor on behalf of the Development Interns. The Administration Development Intern aids the Development Department in its work to raise the organization's annual operating budget. The Development Department of Human Rights First creates and implements the organization's fundraising efforts. As an intern, you will be working with the three core teams of the Development Department— donor relations, events, and foundations.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major and Annual Donors: 
  • Help with maintaining database records 
  • Help in researching potential donors and Board members 
  • Provide support in sending mailings and invitations 
  • Research and summarize potential donor engagement opportunities 
Foundations: 
  • Research new foundations to apply for funding 
  • Help with copy editing and preparing of proposals and reports 
  • Help with tracking deliverables and maintaining foundation calendars 
Events: 
  • Assist Special Events Officer in preparation and logistics for events 
  • Plan and present creative projects and engagement opportunities at events 
  • Depending on availability, provide assistance at events 
Administrative Support: 
  • Each internship position will also have its share of administrative support including but not limited to stuffing envelopes and administrative duties like proofreading, file cleaning, and data entry.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Leadership and work/project management experience 
  • Strong computer and research skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Event planning experience a plus 
  • Organized and detail-oriented approach to projects 
  • Ability to prioritize duties, meet deadlines, and be a team player 
  • Interest in human rights a plus.
EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an accredited undergraduate university. 
PAID/UNPAID INTERNSHIP: Unpaid
START DATE: September 5, 2018
TIME COMMITMENT:  Minimum of 30 hours per week. Internship will run through Dec. 8th, 2018.
